Prescription was originally supposed to be an alternate version of another song we had called "remedy" which was later taken off of the album. The actual recording was just supposed to be a jam exercise between a few of the boys to stay sharp, and just so happened to be recorded.
The general rule for this song was that it was all spontaneous, and not pre-planned in any way. No writing, no technique, nothing. As the album recording processes went on, we would find ourselves throwing this song on, and pressing record and tracking whoever wanted to throw down on it.
Lyrics where added but later scrapped, which instead, led us towards keeping it as an instrumental on the album. (This goes in line with our previous two releases, that also each have an instrumental)
The acoustic guitar and bongos where added on a whim during one of our get togethers. Beck can even be heard talking in the background of the bongo take. Everything was just record and go. It's also the first song we have recorded that features Cajon and no direct drum tracks.. We hope the song retains that element of freedom and spontaneity. Prescription.
